The History of the Practice

Castle Dental Practice was established in 1972 by Mr Moir Reid, being joined in 1975 by Mr Brian Goodacre, who was later to become a partner. Mr Alan Fields joined the practice in 1987 as an associate, becoming joint senior partner with Mr Goodacre on Mr Reids' retirement in 1993.

Mr Goodacre retired in 1999 and was replaced by Geoff Baggaley, who has since left the practice. In February 2002, Mr Fields formed a new partnership with Mr Edward Storey and Miss Sarah Nicholas.(further details)

The practice entered the modern world of technology, when it was completely computerised, including the appointment system.

Funding of the practice was converted from primarily NHS to mainly private funding with Denplan.(Contact Louise Light  on 0800 328 3223)

The practice installed intra-oral cameras in each surgery.
A full-time hygienist was necessary.

The pratice was awarded 'Denplan practice of the year'.

Jesters our children's oral health club was established and has been a great success.
Our oral health educator started visiting some local schools where discussions and games are played to help children understand by having fun.

Reception moved to the ground floor and a surgery has been fitted, for those patients who find the stairs difficult.

The practice was nominated for ‘Private Practice of the Year’ from a national list of entrants for certain categories. We entered for ‘Best Community’ for visiting schools and nursery groups within the area (a total of just under 1500 children in 8 months).

Computer system was updated, adding digital x-ray imaging which gives patients the beneficiary factor of lower radiation dosage.

Dental Implants are introduced to the practice, many of our patients have benefited from this treatment carried out by Ed Storey and Alan Fields

Jesters now has a dedicated room next to reception. Peri the Dragon is a huge feature in the room. Other characters are to be added with a little input from the children of the practice.

John O'Groats to Lands End fund raising for 'Dentaid' - September 2007

On 5th September 2007 we took part in raising money for 'Dentaid' organised by Denplan. We, along with many other Denplan practices joined one of the sections of the route cycling 25miles (Caton to Broughton), where five Dentists were cycling the full 874-mile distance from John O'Groats to Lands End. As a practice we were able to donate through sponsor over 130.00 to Denplans pledge of raising 1million.
