Dentures
Loosing teeth can lead to changes in your facial appearance, difficulties with pronunciation and problems with chewing. Dentures can alleviate all of these problems. Castle Dental offers a full range of denture services to include smile design, cosmetic denture manufacture and repair and adjustments.
What are dentures?
Dentures are a cost-effective, aesthetic option for replacing lost teeth. Dentures can replace a single tooth, several teeth or a full row of teeth. Modern dentures have excellent cosmetics and are often indistinguishable from real teeth.
What are the benefits to cosmetic dentures?
A new start – A new set of teeth are provided that are natural looking as well as comfortable to wear. This can give a huge boost to your self-confidence and your smile.
Improve your appearance – The use of dentures can provide support for your lips and cheeksand help them to retain a younger more attractive looking shape.
Allow you to eat the foods you like – You will not experience any pain or sensitivity with dentures, so you can enjoy the foods you like and also control your diet better.
Easy to maintain – Aside from regular cleaning, which should take you as long as teeth would, dentures are very easy to maintain.
Improve your smile – Dentures can greatly improve your looks and smile. A brighter smile can make you look younger and can boost your self-confidence.
Different types of dentures explained
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are applied when one or more natural teeth remain in
the jaw. Teeth are held in place by a pink or gum-coloured plastic base
attached to a metal framework which connects the denture to surrounding teeth.
Partial Dentures can be used to prevent tooth migration that may occur if teeth
are missing; they can also replace lost biting surface. Partial dentures can be
easily removed for cleaning and are colour matched to ensure that your smile
looks natural.
Full Dentures
Full dentures are applied to replace a full row of missing teeth. The top denture is normally held in place by suction, but we recommend implants to support lower dentures. This is due to slippage of the lower denture which is less stable. Using just two implants, we can greatly improve denture retention and stability and ensure that alignment is maintained. Not everyone’s gums are suited to implants, so an initial assessment will be undertaken to see if there is sufficient bone volume and bone density to support the implants.
Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures provide a temporary replacement for extracted teeth and possess excellent aesthetics. Impressions for immediate dentures will be taken prior to tooth extraction and can then be worn straight away following the procedure.
Dentures consultation
The creation and fitting of dentures will normally require four or five appointments. This allows for assessment and consultation, dental impressions, smile design and fitting and adjustment. At Castle Dental, we aim to schedule these appointments over a four to five week period, to provide you with aesthetically pleasing dentures as quickly as possible.
