Tooth Whitening
Teeth can naturally darken with age. The addition of tea, coffee, wine and smoking can cause further discolouration. Castle Dental Practice offers a Zoom in-chair tooth whitening service designed to brighten up your teeth and your smile.
The Zoom professional tooth whitening process is proven to brighten teeth by up to eight shades, so that your teeth look whiter and your smile is more attractive. Unlike other tooth whitening processes, Zoom won’t damage your teeth or gums during the process.
How Zoom Whitening Works
Zoom tooth whitening gel contains photo-activators that react to halogen light. Upon activation, an oxidation reaction occurs, this dissolves staining within the tooth enamel leaving your teeth brighter and cleaner.
What do we include in the service?
The process involves taking dental impressions and the creation of custom made whitening trays that are specifically tailored to your mouth. The whitening trays and a home whitening kit are both included in the cost of this service. We will make any required final adjustments to your trays when you come in to collect them to ensure a comfortable fit and effective whitening are achieved.

Disadvantages
There are very few disadvantages to the Zoom professional tooth whitening service. Following treatment, you may feel increased sensitivity to hot and cold foods for a period of 1-3 days.
Am I suitable for Zoom tooth whitening?
Most people’s teeth will be suited to Zoom tooth whitening, however, if you suffer with periodontal disease and have very sensitive teeth, tooth whitening may not be advisable. Each patient will be assessed to determine their suitability at the initial teeth whitening consultation.
Before the Zoom teeth whitening process can be carried out, we recommend you attend a hygiene appointment for ultrasonic scaling and airflow polishing to remove surface plaque and staining. This allows the whitening gel to penetrate the tooth better and gives an immediate improvement in the appearance
Home Tooth Whitening
Castle Dental also offers a Home Tooth Whitening package priced at £380 using custom made (on-site) trays and a bleach gel that can be used at home. The gel must be worn 2-4 hours at a time or overnight with the process repeated daily. Each application gradually whitens the teeth; the more applications you apply, the whiter the teeth will go. The home tooth whitening process usually requires 10-15 applications for a course of treatment.
Home tooth whitening will achieve the same degree of whitening as the Zoom but requires a little more time. The advantage to home tooth whitening is that you can monitor the colour change as you go. You will need to attend an initial consultation to determine if your teeth are suitable for this service.
