Dental Hygiene
Oral hygiene is necessary to keep your mouth and teeth clean and prevent common dental problems such as dental cavities, gingivitis, periodontal (gum) diseases and bad breath.
At Castle Dental, we have a dedicated team of fully qualified dental hygienists using the latest dental technologies to keep your teeth clean. We use Air Flow® and Perio Flow® scaling and polishing technologies to provide gentle and effective cleaning without the discomfort associated with traditional professional cleaning.
Having your teeth professionally cleaned has many benefits. Not only does it leave your teeth feeling smooth and clean, it removes the deposits that allow bacteria to stick to your teeth, preventing gum disease.
Oral Health Assessment
Our dental hygienists can perform oral assessments to provide dietary advice, oral hygiene advice, and preventative treatments to protect your teeth and oral health.
Scale & Polish
A scale and polish can remove discolouration to your teeth caused by smoking, coffee, and other foods or drinks. It is advised to get your teeth scaled and polished regularly to prevent the build up of plaque. If left, plaque can become harder to remove and the scaling process can be more uncomfortable.
Fluoride Treatment
After a scale and polish, your dentist may also apply a topical fluoride treatment. Fluoride helps to strengthen and re-mineralise the enamel of your teeth as well as protecting your teeth against acid attack.
Fissure Sealants
A safe and painless way of protecting your teeth from decay. The sealant is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth and forms a protective barrier which helps prevent particles and bacteria from getting stuck in the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay. Dental hygienists can help to protect back teeth by applying fissure sealants to deep grooves or pits.
Periodontal Therapy
Periodontal disease is an infection of the structures surrounding the teeth. Early stages of the disease known as gingivitis affect the gums, but in more severe forms the disease can affect all of the tissues. Periodontal therapy can help prevent, diagnose and treat periodontal disease.
